Diane J. Butterworth

Diane J. (Wood) Butterworth, age 74, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep with her husband by her side. She was the wife of Fred Butterworth with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.

Born in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Lee and Edna Alice (Bennett) Wood.

Diane worked as a Clerk at the Post Office for over twenty years until she retired, and prior to that, she worked at the New Bedford Women’s Center. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots games, hiking in the mountains in New Hampshire, traveling with friends in their RV and time in Florida. Diane was a beautiful person with a happy soul, and touched the hearts of many. Spending time with her family and her husband who was the love of her life, was very important, and especially her grandchildren who she adored. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors in addition to her husband Fred, are her children, Kellie Lang of Portland, Oregon, Patricia and husband Henry Fontain of Bellingham, MA, and Theresa Moorhouse and her fiancé Ken of Westport, MA; her grandchildren, Noel Lioce, Kylie Moorhouse, and Colby Moorhouse; and her sister-in-law, Jane Wood of NY. She was the sister of the late Rev. Greg D. Wood, Norma Wood, and her twin brother, Harry David Wood.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd. Dartmouth, MA 02748.
