Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Manuel B. and Rose (Dias) Mello, Jr. and a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Parish.
Known to all as "Ann" she owned and operated Cozy Corner Restaurant in Downtown New Bedford and Ann’s Place in the North End of New Bedford. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family and was loved by everyone that met her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is the beloved mother of, Antone “Tony” Alfonse and his wife Anne Marie of Mattapoisett; five daughters, Joyce Sabino of New Bedford, Shirley Beaudoin of Dartmouth, Mary Fonseca and her husband Victor of Dartmouth, Donna Katz and her husband Howard of Fairhaven; and Debra Alfonse of New Bedford and her companion William Marshall, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and four sisters; Lillian Sylvia of Acushnet, Mary Brassells of Dartmouth, Joan Mello of Hopkinton, and Margaret Avery of Westport.
She was the mother of the late Bonita Antonelli-L’Italian, grandmother of the late Michelle Sabino and sister of the late Bernice Manzone, Rose Gonsalves, and William B. Mello.
Her funeral will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at 9 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.
