Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Mary (LeBeau) DeMello, she was a resident of South Dartmouth for the past 63 years. Mrs. Carr was an antique collector, loved hummingbirds and caring for her neighbor’s animals. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra A. Metcalf and her husband David of New Bedford; three sisters, Eva Dupont and Jean Cornell both of New Bedford and Doris Pimental of South Dartmouth; two grandchildren, Keith D. and Jessica A. Metcalf of New Bedford; four great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Robbie, Shelby and Rebekah; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Emily Santos, Mary Gracia and Joseph DeMello.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Bedford, 31 Ventura Dr., North Dartmouth, MA 02747. Private services are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth.
