

Born in Memphis, TN, son of the late David Groskind and Beverly (Didlake) Groskind. Fred was raised in Memphis and attended Memphis University Preparatory School. He later went on to receive his Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
In addition to his loving wife Karen, he is survived by his children, Emma K. Groskind and her husband Jacob Freese of Florida and Isak Groskind and his partner, Michele Auer of Quincy; two brothers, David Groskind and his wife Valorie of Ontario, Canada and Joseph Groskind and his wife Judy of Illinois; his in-laws, Susan Fuchs and her husband Michael of Texas and David Kayser of New Bedford; a nephew and two nieces.
Fred adored his wife Karen and their daughter Emma; he enjoyed biking, sailing, and rowing around Buzzards Bay. Woodworking and building boats were his passions. He will be remembered for his humility, generosity, compassion, and humor.

Please join us for sitting shiva on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from noon to 6:00 pm in the family’s home. The family will also accept visitors between noon and 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday (February 12-15, 2024).
