Born in Providence, RI a son of the late Walter S. and Dorothea T. (O’Malley) Pride, he grew up there before moving to Mattapoisett and later settling in South Dartmouth.
Mr. Pride graduated from Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School in 1962. He later graduated from Providence College in 1968 majoring in German and Economics. He served in the Army National Guard Special Forces as a Green Beret and weapons specialist.
Jerry worked for Rex-Cut Abrasives and he married the love of his life, Maureen on August 8, 1970. He was a longtime and beloved neighbor in the Padanaram Village. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing piano, sailing, boating, gardening, target shooting, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Richard S. Pride and his wife Lula, a niece, Lorelle Scott Pride and sister-in-law, Lynn F. O’Kane. He was the brother of the late Robert B. Pride and uncle of the late Leslie Opilka.
His funeral will be Monday, January 22, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
