He was the beloved husband of Angela (Palmeira) Ferro, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born to the late Gilbert B. Ferro, Sr. and Frances (Nunes) Ferro, Gil was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School.
Gil worked in the beverage industry for more than 35 years at Horizon Beverage, following his earlier career with United Liquors. A liquor distributor specializing in alcoholic beverages, he took pride in his work and the many people he met throughout the years.
Kind-hearted and easygoing, Gil lived a simple life and enjoyed life in general. He was a natural jokester who was always ready with a story and had a way of making people feel welcome. Very social and outgoing, Gil could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He especially enjoyed cooking and cheering on his favorite teams, the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics.
Above all, family was the most important part of Gil’s life. He adored his grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them. His warmth, humor, stories, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gil is survived by his loving wife, Angela; his daughter, Julie Morais and her husband, David, of North Carolina; his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella, Nathan, and Elijah Morais, all of North Carolina; and many beloved cousins, aunts and uncle.
The family extends a very special thank you to the Fairhaven Community Nurses and to the nurses and doctors at St. Luke’s Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
Gil will be remembered as a kind, laid-back, and caring man who enjoyed the simple things in life and loved his family deeply. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10:00am – 12:00pm, followed by a 12:00pm service in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
