Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of Duarte and Maria F. (Vieira) Arruda, he came to the United States in 1980.
He was an owner and operator who contracted with Arctic Express Trucking Company. Gil enjoyed watching football, especially the Redskins and was a soccer fan.
In addition to his parents he leaves a daughter, Ashley Campo; a son, Andrew August; two sisters, Nelia Arruda and Maria Da Silva; five brothers, Paulo, Henry, Duarte Jr., Rui and Joseph Arruda; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.
