Grace M. Gonsalves

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Anthony and Guilhermina (Silva) Gonsalves, she had resided in Fairhaven before moving to Dartmouth in 1982 where she had lived with her lifelong friend Mary Coholan until moving to Marion 8 years ago.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bridgewater State College.

Miss Gonsalves was a teacher at the Gomes School in New Bedford for 14 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the Sol-e-Mar Social Club, Yesterday’s Youngsters and the Friends of the Elderly.

Survivors include her nephew, Jay Gonsalves and his wife Connie of Rochester; her nieces, Jody Seivert of New Bedford and Jill Simoes of San Diego; her great nephew, Jack Gonsalves of Rochester; her great nieces, Lesley Ann Gavin of Hopkinton, Mariel Gonsalves of Somerset and Johnna Simoes of San Diego.

She was the sister of the late John A. Gonsalves.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 8am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Friday 4-7pm. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
