Born in New Bedford, Grace was the daughter of the late Honorato and Ethelvina (Rocha) Costa.
She was a dedicated lifelong learner who proudly earned her G.E.D. in her early 50's, received a scholarship to continue her education and subsequently attended classes at Bristol Community College.
Grace worked most of her career years at Cape Cod Sportswear.
At the time of her retirement by age 65, she began a second part time career working at different places such as Ames, Sewphisticated Fabric and Buttonwood Park Zoo cafeteria. After nearly a total of an additional 20 years her last commitment was as an employee and a volunteer for the Adult Social Day Care at the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Remarkably she fully retired at age 95, a testament to her enduring spirit and generous heart.
Grace found joy in life’s simple pleasures: sewing, knitting, music, attending activities along with volunteering for the Dartmouth High School Band and cherished getaways to the mountains of New Hampshire. Family was the heart of her world.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Nina Moniz, and her husband Tony of Dartmouth; her grandchildren, Bethany and her husband Eric Furey of Dartmouth, Thomas Moniz and his wife Maria of Amherst, NH, and Michael Moniz and his wife Caitlyn of Westport; and her great-grandchildren, Bella, Eric, and Julian Furey, and Nathan and Bradley Moniz. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her brother, Honorato "Nick" Costa and his wife Margaret "Peggy" Costa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA. Her funeral will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 795 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. Her Funeral Mass will also be live streamed at stmarysdartmouth.org. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
