
Henry R. Dumas, Jr., 81, of Dartmouth passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 in his home with his family at his side. He was the husband of Diana (Gallant) Dumas with whom he would have shared 30 years of marriage in December.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Henry R. and Edna (Martineau) Dumas he was brought up in Swansea and had lived in Dartmouth for over thirty years.
Henry earned his bachelor's degree in finance from the former SMU and he served as a United States Marine for nine years. Most in the area will remember Henry as a well-respected tax accountant with his office on Main Street in Fairhaven.
In his spare time, he spent a lot of time with his elite racing pigeons which he began to race when he was a teenager. He was also very involved with caring for the family cats, both indoor and outdoor. Four years ago, he adopted a very special dog, Maggie who was like his shadow.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Matthew Dumas of Fairhaven, Sarah Dumas Gardner of Marion, and Jason Protami of S. Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Marissa, and Todd; two nephews; and his good friend Pam Greene. He was the brother of the late Richard Dumas.
