Born in New York City, a son of the late Hubert C. and Lucy (Holden) Mandeville Jr. He grew up in Larchmont, NY and summered in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. He lived in Dartmouth for the last 39 years.
Mr. Mandeville was a graduate of Union College and Bentley University. He served in Vietnam as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. Hubert worked as an accountant for Sears and he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Dartmouth.
He was a member of the New Bedford Yacht Club, and for many years a member of the Holland Society of New York and the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants. In retirement, Mr. Mandeville enjoyed volunteering for hospice and the Solanus Casey Food Pantry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tara and her husband Dennis Walsh of Mattapoisett and Catherine Mandeville of Dartmouth; two sons, Hubert C. Mandeville IV of NY and Joel Mandeville of IA; two sisters, Mary and her husband Herbert Willetts, and Jane and her husband Tom Wetsel, both of NC; a brother, John and his wife Jean Mandeville of MN; two grandchildren, Teagan and Hadley Walsh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence Shatford.
His funeral will be Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial will be Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. in S. Dartmouth Cemetery, Elm St., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care or The Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts.
