Born in Redondelo, Chaves, Portugal, the daughter of the late Eusebio Macedo and Maria Dos Santos, she came to the United States in 1978 and settled in Dartmouth.
Mrs. Alves had worked as an inspector for Riverside Manufacturing for many years until her retirement.
Ilda was a woman of strong faith and attended church regularly. Her life revolved around her family. She was most happy while spending time with her loving family who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her children, Fernanda DaSilva and husband Alfredo of Dartmouth, Tina Carneiro of New Bedford, Tony Alves and wife Grace of Dartmouth, Celia Pires and husband Deacon Albertino of Fairhaven, Helena Bulhoes and husband Jorge of Dartmouth, Isilda Alves and husband Amaro of Dartmouth, Alan Alves and wife Leah of Mattapoisett, Paul Alves and wife Kimberly of Dartmouth and Susana Thomas and husband Derek of Dartmouth; twenty four grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandsons, Jordan and Trevor Alves and her siblings, Adelia Fernandes and Eusebio and Antonio Dos Santos.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
