Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Arsenio and Julia (Verissimo) Francisco she was a lifelong area resident.
Many will know Jane from her 35 year long teaching career. She taught 5th grade for the New Bedford Public Schools. She had also taught in the Virgin Islands, St. Croix, and Hollywood, FL. She was the former Vice President of Teachers of the New Bedford Educators Association and very involved with the National Education Association.
Ms. Walcott was very active and involved with Democratic local and state politics. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling to Madeira, Alaska, Scandinavia, the Caribbean, and she spent many winters in Florida until her health declined. There was nothing Jane relished more in her life than her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son James E. Walcott whom she adored.
Her visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2025 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748. All other services are private.
