Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John T. Connor and Eva May (Jones) Gassner.
John worked in the grocery industry for over 50 years and was an avid golfer, loved to cook and was a member of the US Army Reserves.
He is survived by one brother, Michael Connor; his daughter, Kelli Sousa and her husband David; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Jared Sousa all of Dartmouth as well as one niece, Beverly Weber and her husband Larry as well as two great nieces, Alex Rose and Chloe Weber.
His Memorial Services will be held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Veterans Transition House 1297 Purchase St, New Bedford, MA 02740.
