John N. Fontes

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Elvira (Jorge) Fontes, he resided in Dartmouth most of his life.

John worked as a meat cutter and deli manager at Stop & Shop and enjoyed farming. He was a member of the

Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union and was a past member of the High Hill Fox and Coon Club. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

He was a loving father to his surviving 4 children, Linda Mae Fontes of Milton, FL; Donna Marie Fontes of Cape Cod; John A. Fontes and his wife Ana of Dartmouth; Bruce G. Fontes of Dartmouth; he was a loving grandfather and great grandfather to his 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Manuel Fontes.

His visiting hours will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2013 at the Waring Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth from 4-7pm with Words of Remembrance from 7-7:30pm. The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942
