Jose M. Pavao, 82, of South Dartmouth passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria A. Pavao with whom he would have shared 57 years of marriage on October 4th.
Born in Sao Miguel, a son of the late Jose P. and Beatrice (Araujo) Pavao he grew up there before coming to America and becoming a United States Citizen. Jose was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Dartmouth.
Jose was a machine operator in the garment industry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jose M. Pavao and his wife Lucia of New Bedford, Debra Botelho and her husband Paul of Dartmouth, and Kelly Watkins and her husband Eddie of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Kayla H. Pavao, Casey Watkins, Ava Watkins, Hailey Botelho, and Felicity Botelho.
His funeral will be Friday, September 11, 2026, at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
