

Kathryn E. (Cudmore) DeMoss of Westport, Massachusetts, formerly of Sharon, Massachusetts, died on December 1, 2025, at the age of 93, in Westwood, Massachusetts. Kathryn was born on February 4, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, one of five children to the late Beaman and Maude (Wilbur) Cudmore, originally from New Brunswick, Canada. Kathryn grew up in Dedham Massachusetts and was a graduate of Dedham High School class of 1949. She was also a graduate of the Simmons College Middle Management Program in 1977.
Kathryn often said that as a little girl, growing up in Dedham, she would see the trains coming from Boston with passengers disembarking at the local station. She once saw a woman disembark carrying a brief case. That image always stuck in her mind as something she would like to be someday, a business professional.
After high school, Kathryn began her business career by taking the train to Boston to work for the John Hancock Company. From there she moved on to several insurance agencies until she landed a job working at the Gillette Company dealing with insurance issues. After working at Gillette 28 years, interrupted by a brief stint working for the county government in Miami, Florida, Kathryn retired from Gillette as the Corporate Secretary in 1993.
Kathryn leaves her husband David who she married in 1972. She also leaves her daughter Patricia (Pati) A. Lewis and her husband Barry Lewis. She leaves her treasured grandchildren Wendy Lewis and Dana Lewis and his wife Nancy. In addition she leaves four great grandchildren, Ryan Barros, Aaron Barros, Nathan Lewis, and Madison Lewis. Kathryn’s was predeceased by her four siblings, Margaret Iona McDonald, Shirley Stressenger, James Cudmore and Ruth Cudmore.
Kathryn loved to cook and garden. She also enjoyed sailing with her husband David. They sailed for many years along the New England coast and into Long Island Sound aboard their Cape Dory cutter rigged “Celebration”. Kathryn also enjoyed international travel having made several trips to Europe with friends and her husband.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm followed by funeral services at 12:30 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Dartmouth Funeral Home, 230 Russells Mills Road, South Dartmouth, Ma. 02748. In lieu of flowers please donate, in Kathryn’s memory, to a charity of your choice.
