Kathy was a dear, dear online friend and mega-supporter of my work. She is truly missed every day.

It's taken me awhile to figure out what I want to say because there is just so much to say...too many words to describe the woman you see here.

My Mom is my best friend. We chose to spend our lives together because we had the best time with each other. Laughter filled our lives even when the chips were down. She used to say to me, "I don't know how you got this way (in a good way (chuckle))." I would reply, "Because you're my Mom."

My Mom helped so many people. I cannot tell you how many step calls we went on. People we took in. How many hours she spent on the phone with someone who needed to talk. My Mom volunteered at the hospital, shelter, crisis center, and hotline. This was added to her working a full-time job and sometimes the additional part job she would have at night. She taught me that we always have to give back.

My Mom gave me my love of country. She was so proud of the man who raised her, Uncle Dick, and his military service. I heard stories. Then she introduced me to veterans when I was really young. Such an influence it had on me that I joined the military when I became of age.

My Mom pressed education. I hold multiple degrees. She believed that I could do anything and let me just be me and find my own way.

Her strength and resiliency kept me going when times were tough. Her kindness to all was an example to live by. 

I know I make her out to be a paragon, but she is one. I love my Mom. I'm so proud to be her daughter. She is just amazing and I hope you got a chance to know her. I would have never had enough time with her even if we lived forever. 

To my Mom: I love you. I choose you every time. I'm so beyond proud of you. I miss you. I'm fulfilling our dreams hoping that somehow, some way, you can see how much I love you.
