Louise (Wunchel) Luckraft, age 90, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Born in New Bedford, Louise lived a full and loving life rooted in devotion to her family and cherished traditions.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Luckraft, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Darmofal) Wunchel, Louise carried forward the values of kindness, patience, and family that she held dear throughout her life.
Louise lived with her husband on Seconsett Island in Mashpee for 20 years. After his death, she moved to Whaler's Place in New Bedford where she resided for 15 years.
Louise found joy in the simple pleasures—puzzling over a good jigsaw, mastering the delicate art of needlepoint, and baking treats that filled her home with warmth and delicious aromas. But nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense pride and laughter to her days.
She is survived by her loving children: Thomas Luckraft and companion Marlene of New Bedford; Robert Luckraft and his wife Susan of Falmouth; Marie Rousseau and her husband James of Dartmouth; William Luckraft of Idaho; and James Luckraft and his wife Karen of Virginia. Louise was a proud grandmother to Christine, David, Michelle, Michael, Jennifer, Sarah, Timothy, and Danielle; and a doting great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her generous spirit and unwavering love.
Louise’s legacy will live on in the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the lives she touched with grace and care.
Her Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth MA 02748.
