

Born in Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Pedro Pinheiro and Julia Leite de Figueiredo, she had immigrated to America when she was 48 years old.
She was a School Teacher in Cape Verde for the Portuguese government for 26 years and worked in the textile mills for 15 years; volunteered at the Kennedy Donovan Center, St. Luke’s as well as at the methadone clinic for 20 years as a foster grandmother.
Lucilia belonged to the Lady of the Rosary group at St. John the Baptist Church where she served as a lector. She was also a member of the group of the Holy Spirit at Our Lady of Assumption Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosaria Pinheiro Arteaga of New Bedford, Mariana Oliveira and her husband Mario of Dartmouth and Maria Eugenia Gadomski and her husband Ronald of New Bedford; a special daughter Fatima Leite and her husband Antonio of Pawtucket; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Amilcar Franklin Pinheiro Oliveira and grandmother of the late John C. Rodrigues Jr. She was predeceased by her siblings, Maria Jose Pinheiro, Ema Araujo, Eugenia Pinheiro, Maria Eugenia Conceicao, Maria Eduarda Nicolau, Lucia Pinheiro, Carlos Figue, Dr. Julio Pinheiro, Delfino Pinheiro and Humberto Pinheiro .
Her funeral will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 9:30 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 344 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours, Wednesday 4-8 PM.
