

Margery Russell Phelan Lok, age 86, of South Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of John H. Lok with whom she shared 16 years of marriage. She is predeceased by her former husband, William L. Phelan, of Concord.
Born in Marblehead, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (White) Russell.
Margery was a graduate of Hingham High School and worked for the Amica Insurance Company at the Park Square Building in Boston. She was a homemaker most of her life. She was a long-time resident of Hingham, Lexington, Concord and South Dartmouth. She volunteered for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, enjoyed entertaining, especially around the holidays, and spending time at the ocean. More than anything else she cherished spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandsons, “My Boys,” whom she adored. She was a member of the New Bedford Yacht Club for many years. She will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors in addition to her husband John are her children, Michelle R. Frain and her husband Thomas J. Frain of Lancaster, MA, and David C. Phelan of New Bedford; her stepsons, Tom Lok of Chicago, David Lok and his wife Audrey of Townsend MA, and Stephen Lok of Atlanta; two grandsons, William Joseph Frain and Michael Xavier Frain of Lancaster; three brothers, Father William Russell, S.J., of Weston, Jude Russell and his wife June of Halifax, and Gregory Russell and his wife Jackie of Westford, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was part of a dynamic loving trio with her life long best friends from Hingham, Kay Van Deusen and the late Ann Magner. She was the sister of the late Mary Ann Venti and the late Gretchen Craffey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME IN DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 789 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
