Born in Terceira, Azores, Maria was the daughter of the late Jorge and Maria (Silva) Reis. Throughout her life, Maria found joy in the things that made life beautiful, from spending precious time with her family to exploring the world and expressing her creativity.
Maria worked as a seamstress and in retail, where she put her skills and creativity to uses. Outside of work, she enjoyed traveling, dancing, and immersing herself in the world of art. She had a special love for painting, finding beauty and aspiration in the opportunity to create something of her own.
Above all else, family was at the heart of Maria’s life. She especially cherished her grandson, Rhys, who held a very special place in her heart. The love she shared with her family was among her greatest treasures, and the memories they created together will forever be held close.
She is survived by her son Stephen do Rego and his wife Sarah of North Carolina; 1 grandchild Rhys do Rego; and a brother George Reis of South Carolina. She was predeceased by her eldest son Mark do Rego.
