Maria Vieira Domingos, 89, of New Bedford, passed away at Hathaway Manor on Friday, June 19, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Jose and Guilhermina Alves. She was the wife of the late Arlindo Brum Domingos,with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Lajes, Pico, Acores, she immigrated to New Bedford in 1968, became a US Citizen, and worked as a Machine Operator at Colonial Textile for over 20 years, until she retired in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter Fernanda Viegas and her husband Jose of New Bedford, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Jose Alves and his wife Adelina of Canada and Joao Alves and his wife Catarina of Canada and three sisters Dolores Gonsalves of Lajes, Pico, Acores, Gloria Cardoso and her husband Manuel of Canada and Guilhermina Baptista of Canada and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Guilhermina Domingos and her siblings: Manuel, Tome and Aira Alves.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 230 Bonney St., New Bedford with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. Please do not send flowers. For online tributes or condolences please visit www.waring-sullivan.com
