Maria M. (Dos Reis Andrade) Neto, 90 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her devoted family. She was the cherished wife of Francisco M. Neto, with whom she shared 62 beautiful years of marriage - a life built on love, and unshakeable companionship. Together, they were a mirror of devotion and family.
Born in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde Islands, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Miguel Andrade and Etelvina (Dos Reis Andrade) Andrade. She immigrated to the United States and worked for many years at the Acushnet Golf Company (Titleist).
A woman of quiet strength and profound grace, Maria lived a life rooted in tradition, generosity, and love to her family and friends. She had a gift for making her home a sanctuary- always filled with beauty, and warmth. Her home was a reflection of her inner radiance, she decorated with unique charm, and when visiting, the comforting aroma of traditional Cape Verdean cooking always greeted you at the door.
Maria found joy in the simple pleasures- reading romance novels, crocheting, dancing to her favorite music, and traveling the world with the love of her life, Francisco.
She was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s research Hospital and the Wounded warrior Project, living a life of service and compassion. Her heart, full of empathy and generosity, touched countless lives.
Maria is survived by her husband Francisco M. Neto, sisters, Maria DeJesus and Maria Jose; brothers, Manuel Andrade and Jouquim Andrade and many adoring nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life well-lived – a life that brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew her.
As we lay Maria to rest, we hold on to the comfort of revelation 21:4:
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain….”
Her love lives on in each of us. Her legacy of compassion, family devotion, and quiet strength will never fade.
Please keep the Neto family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning and healing.
