Mariana F. (Arteaga) Oliveira, 70, of Dartmouth passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Mario J. Oliveira, with whom she would have celebrated 49 years of marriage with on October 10th.
Born in Brava Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Joao and Lucilia (Pinheiro) Arteaga, she came to America at the age of 13 and lived most her life in New Bedford before settling in Dartmouth. She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church
Mrs. Oliveira was a special education teacher’s assistant, and she was a tremendous advocate for education. Children were the center of her life. Mariana was strong, witty, determined, and devoted to her Catholicism.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Rebecca Silva and Mario Oliveira, Jr. both of Dartmouth; two grandchildren, Ciara Phelps and Brayden Silva; and a sister, Maria Gadomski and her husband Ronald of New Bedford.
Her funeral will be Friday, September 25, 2026 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Church, 484 Slocum Road, Dartmouth. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Route 6. Visitation will be Thursday 4-7 p.m.
