Phyllis B. Gardner-Dixon

Phyllis B. Gardner-Dixon, 94, of Dartmouth passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 in Brookdale Dartmouth Village. She was the wife of the late Arnold F. Gardner and Walter Dixon.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late William P. and Bertha (Hartmann) Schmidt she grew up there and lived most of her life in Dartmouth.

Phyllis graduated from New Bedford High School in 1932 and later graduated from Bridgewater College. She was a special needs school teacher at Devalles School.

Phyllis is survived by a son, Arnold F. Gardner Jr and his wife Claudette of Westford; a daughter Priscilla Fellows and her husband Gary of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Lauren Gardner, Kristina Gardner and Olivia Gardner and great grandchildren Benjamin Gardner and Evelyn Pires. She leaves the Dixon families of Holly and Michael Ostenburg of Bradenton Florida, Walter and Suzanne Dixon of Rochester and Jadine Loo-Dixon of Mattapoisett. Phyllis has a cousin, George Hartmann of Attleboro.

Her funeral service will be Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11 am in WARING-SULLIVAN at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to New England Hospice, 190 Old Derby St., Suite 304, Hingham, MA 02043 or a charity of your choice. I have so many beautiful childhood memories of growing up living next door to this family. I never cut the back lawn without seeing Phyllis out in her back yard tending to her flowers and always a hello, how are you? May you Rest In Peace forever.
