Roland N. Morin, age 83, passed away, Sunday, December 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Dolores D. (Dias) Morin. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John Alfred and Laura (Hamel) Morin.
Roland served in the United States Army for 27 years in both active and reserve duty. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After discharge from active duty, he served 14 years in the Army Reserves with the 483rd Combat Engineer Battalion at Ft. Rodman in New Bedford, MA.
He worked as a machinist at the Continental Screw Company for 28 years. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, dancing on Saturday nights with his wife and spending time with his family. Roland also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a communicant at St. Julie’s church in North Dartmouth, MA.
He is survived by 3 sons; Brett J. Morin and his wife Elizabeth of North Dartmouth, Eric R. Morin and his wife Maura of South Dartmouth, Troy R. Morin of North Dartmouth 4 grandchildren; Sarah, Jared, Brendan and Audrey Morin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; Adrien Morin, John Wilfred Morin and Dolores Fredette.
Roland’s Funeral will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10am at St Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Rd. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8pm at Waring-Sullivan at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd, Dartmouth. Burial at 1pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
