Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Walter T. Britton, Sr. and Eliza (Keighley) Britton, he lived most of his life in Dartmouth and graduated from Dartmouth High School. A Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during WWII, he was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was a Senior Custodian for the Town of Dartmouth School Department until his retirement in 1993. He previously worked for the City of Manhattan Beach in California. Mr. Britton loved to spend time with his beloved dog, Steele.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Russell Britton and his wife Margaret of Rotonda West, FL, Mark Britton and his wife Joanne of Freetown; two grandsons Bryan Britton and his wife Patti of Dartmouth and Adam Britton and his wife Elizabeth of Hancock, ME; and three great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 9AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 PM. Burial in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
