Benjamin (Ben) E. Hudson died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 20, 2017 after a courageous bought with cancer. He was born in Hyannis, MA to the late Earl Hudson and Ruth Davis Baker. Ben grew up in West Dennis and is a true Cape Codder. He started Ben Hudson Landscaping in 1969 and was notorious for going out of his way for his customers to give the best service possible. He truly loved his job.
Ben was in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He was a volunteer firefighter in the Town of Dennis for 20 years. He belonged to the Moose Lodge and was a member of the Northside United Methodist Church in Brewster. He loved sailing and driving his 1928 Chandler.
As Ben got older he and Jan spent winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL. In his RV park he was know as "The Mayor". He loved meeting and greeting people.
Ben can finally say he has lived his whole life on Cape Cod.
Ben is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jan Hudson; his daughters Lauri Napolitano and husband Pete of Harwich and Julie Hudson and husband Jeff Connor of Marshfield; his sisters Lorraine Eaton of Dennis, Nancy DeDominicos of Harwich and Beverly Hazen of Florida. Ben also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his 3 grandchildren Annabelle, Jay and Josh who loved him dearly.
Visiting hours will take place at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 on Friday, February 24th from 4pm to 7pm. A Celebration of Ben’s life will be held 11am on Saturday, February 25th at Northside United Methodist Church, 701 Airline Rd., Brewster, MA 02631. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis, MA.
