Born on February 13, 1918, in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis Michael and Mary Ellen (Glynn) Kelly and step daughter of Margaret Agnes (Flynn) Kelly. Kaye grew up in Brighton, MA.
In 1944, she married John (Jack) C. Danforth who she shared her love and life with and they built a home together in Waltham where they raised their family.
Kaye was proud of her contributions to the war effort through her employment at the Watertown Arsenal during WW II and enjoyed sharing stories with her family about that time in history. Later Kaye was the secretary to the principal of Waltham High School for a number of years and appreciated her friendships with the staff and also loved keeping her eye on her sons as they went through school. Kaye was an expert seamstress and her creations included beautiful dresses and sport jackets for her children. Kaye loved Cape Cod and after years of spending their family summers in West Dennis, Kaye and Jack retired to West Dennis where they enjoyed many happy years with family and friends.
During the last years of her life, Kaye continued to enjoy being outside, taking walks, and going out to lunch. Kaye thoroughly enjoyed luncheons at her favorite restaurants Cooke’s and the Hearth & Kettle where staff made her feel comfortable and catered to her culinary preferences. More than anything, she cherished them time she spent with her family.
Kaye lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and John Robichaud, and their family for the last years of her life. The family believes it takes a village to keep an elderly parent at home and they are forever appreciative of the assistance they received from many talented individuals and especially grateful for the love, devotion, expertise and care provided to Kaye by Rosamond Hansen.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, John (Jack) C. Danforth; her siblings, Fr. Thomas (Joe) Kelly SJ, Francis Kelly, John Kelly, Leo Kelly, Mary Kelly, Martin Kelly, Paul Kelly and Fr. Edmund Kelly SJ; and her great-granddaughter, Leah Catherine Tamash.
