

Don was born on August 6,1933 in Springfield to Dominik and Lottie Witkoski. After attending Springfield schools, he proudly served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Having taught Hotel Restaurant Management at UMass, Newbury College and Northeastern University and after 25 years, he retired from Cape Cod Community College. A pillar in the culinary education community, he certified many local restauranteurs for their Serve Safe requirements. In retirement he served on Heritage Museum’s Automobile Collection board as well as supporting builds for Habitat for Humanity. He spent his winters enjoying the community activities at his home in North Port, Florida. Summer visits by his children and grandchildren at the beach house, were among his happiest moments.
Don is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Beverly as well as his children: David (Liz) Witkoski, Lisa (Josh) Scott and Glenn (Erica) Witkoski, his grandchildren: Allison (Tony) Mauro, Andrew Witkoski, Lily Witkoski, Theodore Witkoski, Jane Witkoski and Addison Scott, his step grandchildren: Kaitlynn (Shaun) Vandenberg and Kye Labit, his great grandchildren: Bennet Mauro, Levi Vandenberg and Rei Vandenberg. He was predeceased by his parents and his son Daniel Witkoski.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, located at 246 Main Street (Route 28), West Harwich, MA. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and pay their respects at The Sea View, located at 76 Chase Avenue, Dennis Port, MA. Entombment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
