Born on December 22, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana, she was the daughter
of the late Harl and Bunny (Beghtel) Dudley. While growing up, she
developed her lifelong love of sewing.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 1959.
While attending Purdue University, she met Kenneth Murray and they
married on August 27, 1960. She later earned her Master’s Degree in
Education from Kean University in New Jersey.
For many years she was the Bilingual and ESL Coordinator for the Old
Bridge, NJ School System. During her time in New Jersey, she was
heavily involved in leadership positions in Girl Scouts of America,
the Parent Teacher Association and many other organizations.
In 1998, she and her husband moved to Cape Cod and continued her
volunteer work on the Board of Directors at the Cape Cod Hospital
Auxiliary, the Orleans branch of CCHA, Nauset Newcomers as well as
many other women’s groups. She chaired the Holly Berry Bazaar for a
number of years.
In addition to her sewing and volunteer activities, she enjoyed
traveling (Europe, Asia, United States) and shopping. More than
anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her family.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth Murray of
Brewster; her three daughters, Ellen Taviano and her husband, Jim of
Glen Mills, PA, Karen Kovert and her husband, Dan of Fishers, IN,
Susan Mallender and her husband, Bill of Franklin, MA; her son, Brian
Murray and his wife, Heidi of Batavia, OH; and her 9 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the
Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134 in South Dennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday,
September 9, 2013 at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook
Road, West Brewster, MA 02631.
