Born on July 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Francis Joseph and Mae (King) Crimmins. He earned both his Bachelor and Master degrees in Education from Worcester State University.
Fran taught mathematics in the Framingham School District until retiring in 1982. Prior to retirement, he and his wife Donna Marie Crimmins (d. 2003) founded Crimmins Associates in Dennis, MA, a company that built custom homes across Cape Cod for more than 20 years.
His passion was education. While remaining active in his Alma Mater’s Alumnae Association, he made sure future generations of kids would have a chance to earn their degrees by endowing a full scholarship for those majoring in the field of education. Cape Cod Hospital also received a generous endowment in memory of his wife who was a professional medical care provider.
Fran enjoyed boating Cape Cod Bay and all of the surrounding harbors and bays with his family and friends as well as golf, travel and taking in an afternoon Red Sox or Patriots game. But more than anything, Fran dearly loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Donna (Lemoine) Crimmins.
He is survived by his son, Michael F. Crimmins and his wife, Helen of Richmond, VA; his daughter, Kathleen Crimmins and her partner, Georgia Gambrel of Port St. Lucie, FL; his brother, John “Jack” Crimmins and his wife, Lori, and their children Maeve and Carson of Wayland, MA; his sister, Rita Soulia of Wayland, MA; his niece, Roberta Powell and her husband, Stephen and their children Maureen and Christian of Wayland, MA; and his nephew, Timothy Barry of Provincetown and his brother in-law William Lemoine of Dennis and his son Douglas Lemoine. He was also survived by his companion of ten years, Virginia “Ginny” Stearns of Braintree, MA and Jupiter, FL.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA 02632.
