Trudy, as she was so affectionately known, was the ultimate care giver. For all of her life, she was the epitome of a devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend; and her kindness is that of legend. Trudy was the first to feed any number of visitors, the first to offer help to a friend in need of a ride or a babysitter, the first to give anything she could to make anyone she loved smile. Trudy took great joy in teaching her children and grandchildren how to be kind and open hearted to all as well.
Trudy loved listening to Motown music, cooking for her family, or spending the day at the beach. She loved most of all, the time she got to spend with her family, especially her husband Bob who was her soulmate. Trudy and Bob raised three strong, independent, and incredibly kind hearted children and Trudy (or Nana B as the grandkids called her) helped to raise her grandchildren in the same type of loving environment full of laughter. Trudy's love for life was found in her ability to see the beauty in every small detail; be it any kind of flower she grew or was gifted, teaching her children new recipes and cooking together as a family, taking ‘girls’ trips to the mountains with her friends, popcorn and movie nights with her grandchildren, or beach days with her daughter. Trudy truly lived in the happy moments and made them special, even if to others they were simply ordinary.
There was never a happy moment or smile lost on her. And she shared that ability to smile, through the hardest of adversity, with everyone. Her strength through decades of illness created an image of sheer survivors will, and she caused many doctors to second guess themselves over the years. And because of her constant ability to smile despite the pain, she continued to fight far longer than most people could have. And she was contented by the fact that when her fight was over, she would be reunited with her true love, her husband Bob, as well as her other loved ones who passed before.
Trudy is survived by her children April Muise of Yarmouth MA, Edward Dahlgren of Yarmouthport MA, and Amanda McGilvray of North Andover MA; her grandchildren James, Eddy, Natalie, Shayne, Robbie, and Brandon; her siblings Mary Lucien of Somerville MA, Hank Lucien of SC, John Lucien of ME, and David Lucien of MO; her lifelong best friend Robert Erikson of Woburn and her family. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Trudy is predeceased by her loving husband Robert Charles Barry of Yarmouthport MA and her son Robert John Barry of Woburn MA. She is also predeceased by her mother Aura M. Lucien of Somerville MA and her siblings William, Arthur, Adeline, Leonard, and Emma.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Trudy’s name to Fresenius Kidney Care Cape Cod
