Kind, generous, loving, creative, gracious, and smart, Glenna was a devoted wife and mom. Her passing at age 68 on December 1, 2020, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, leave her children Laurel, Mark, and Michael and her husband of forty-nine and a half years, Christopher, missing her more deeply than words can express. Through her love of gardening, she created lovely flower gardens everywhere she lived. A bibliophile, Glenna read several books a week throughout her life. She earned degrees in the study of her passions, Horticulture at Essex Agricultural Institute, and Library Science at The University of Maine. A lover of fine arts and antiques, and an excellent pianist she filled the house with music every day on her 1875 Weber Grand Piano. The water was a magnet for Glenna, and she was never as happy as when she was swimming in Cape Cod Bay, kayaking on Penobscot Bay in Maine, or playing in the surf on Nantucket. Joyful and giving, Glenna will be intensely missed by her close circle of friends. An environmentalist, she vigorously supported the Brewster Conservation Trust. Glenna’s life was one of devotion to her family and social activism.
In addition to her children and husband, Glenna is survived by her mother Barbara King of Sarasota, Fl; and her brother Peter King of Enosburg Falls, VT. She was predeceased by her father, Glenn King, and her sister, Lindy Lee King Jones.
The Thoracic Oncology team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute supported Glenna wonderfully for four years and gave her the chance to travel the globe from Alaska to Patagonia, and Bermuda to Scotland.
