Abigail and Brent, what a beautiful celebration of your Dads life on Sunday. I’m sure he was smiling down on all in that beautiful setting he obviously loved so much. Take care of each other. 💜

Abigail and Arvid,

Sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I was so fortunate to have worked for him for so many years. Any success I have experienced can largely be attributed to the work ethic he instilled in me. At the same time having so much fun. I wouldn't trade those years for anything and the memories will always bring a smile.

Swanee, tonight I salute you with a Cutty and splash of water - lots of ice! Rest in peace.

I will never be able to listen to someone scrape a metal spoon inside a pot without hearing Swanee yell, "Use a rubber!!"

Dear Abigail and Arvid and families,

You may remember my name. You were small children when I signed on with your parents and the Jarvises to open the Chart Room. I worked with them all for several years, including the early fall weeks until closing. Many years later just by chance I stopped by the Ruddy Turnstone and found they were the proprietors!

Like many young people who worked for your Dad and Mom I learned a lot about the business, about building teams out of summer kids, cajoling the public into wining, dining, and enjoying it all. I was very fond of them both and grateful for the chance to be part of it.

Sending deepest sympathies and regrets I am unable to be at the gatherings in Swanee's honor. He was larger than life in so many ways!

To the greater Swanson/Suorsa clan,

I am sending you all hugs and sharing in all of the memories--stories from my folks about visiting Sally and Swannee at the Cape and The Half Barn, my own all-too-few visits as an adult, Sally and Swannee's hospitality, birds and whales and mudflats and great storytelling. "Out of the movies.." as Swannee would say. Love to all
as this loss, another one, settles into our lives.

My deepest sympathies to Arvid, Abigail and the family. We have all lost much with the passing of your parents.

And to Swan...
Hey big guy,
So sorry to hear of your passing. Working beside you those first 3 summers of your Chart Room day’s were filled with experiences I will always treasure.

It was such hard work but so much fun ! I can see your face and hear your laugh as if it was yesterday. I will miss you my friend.

And by the way, you cured me forever from whistling!!!

Love you,
Joe Malone

Just now learned of Swanee’s passing. We have fond happy memories of him and Sally - how they loved to laugh, sing, entertain and enjoy life to the fullest.
They were blessed with devoted family and scores of friends and their love for each other was immense.
