

East Harwich- Helen (Eglin) Ekstrom, 82 of East Harwich passed away at her home on December 31, 2010. Born in Connecticut to Herman T. and Albertine (Hasfal) Eglin. She attended Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde, NY as a teen and was later employed in Poughkeepsie at the DeLaval Separator Company. In 1944, Helen joined the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class, serving time in Bronx, NY, Washington D.C., Boston and Cape Cod, MA.
Helen was an avid golfer and a member of the Cranberry Valley Golf Club for many years, as well as the Cranberry Valley Women’s Golf Association. She also had a passion for travel, especially to locations where she could find a golf partner and fulfill her wish to parasail even at age 77!
Helen was predeceased by her beloved Husband Henry “Hank” Ekstrom who passed in 1975. She leaves behind a niece Tina Eglin Mayes of Saint Cloud, FL and her sister-in-law Margaret Eglin of Warminster, PA in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Helens final wish was to be buried at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. All services are private.
