

Helen Kossack (Packet), 91, a long time resident of South Dennis, died peacefully on May 8 surrounded by family members. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Mehawik) Packet and wife of the late Edward Kossack. She is survived by her two sons Robert and his wife Gretchen of Shrewsbury, MA and Donald and his wife Nancy of East Dennis MA and a daughter, Carol of Tototwa New Jersey. Additionally, she had11 grand children and 5 great grand children.
Born in Hazelton PA on April 5 1921, she grew up in Newark NJ and graduated from Central Commercial and Technical High School in 1938. She continued to live in Newark, working as a secretary. In June of 1949 she married Edward Kossack of Irvington, NJ. She then devoted her time to raising her children and home making in Cedar Grove NJ and Westborough MA
In 1972 she and Ed moved to Dennis after purchasing the Hart Farm Nursery, which they turned into a thriving concern. In addition to helping out at the nursery, where she used her creative gifts to decorate wreaths and do flower arrangements, she enjoyed shopping and attending Cape cultural events. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grand children and great grand children. She and Ed traveled a lot and enjoyed talking about their experiences abroad. During her last years she spent time reminiscing and organizing family photographs and mementos. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Edward, and her brothers Peter and William Packet.
Family and friends may visit from 9 to 10:30 AM on Monday May 14 at Doane Beal and Ames Funeral Home 729 Route 134 South Dennis, MA 02660. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, MA at 11 followed by internment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Helen Kossack may be made to the Dennis Council on Aging 1045 Route 134 South Dennis MA 02660.
