Jacquelyn "Jackie" Gately
September 4, 1944 – January 13, 2020
Jacquelyn Skane Gately, 76, of Dennis, died Monday January 13th with her loving family by her side.
She was born to the late Robert and Doris Skane, Sept. 4, 1944, in Waltham, MA. Jackie graduated from Waltham High School in 1962. She married Charles F. Gately in 1968, and they lived together and raised a family in Waltham, MA. before retiring to Dennis in 2000.
Jackie was an x-ray technician at Santa Maria Hospital in Belmont and later Harvard Health in Newton. While her job was to help and care for people, she also followed through with this in life. Her passion was helping her friends and family with any aid and love she could give. Two of her sons passed away in her lifetime. One, Kevin, died in childbirth. The second, Christopher, was born with Spina Bifida and raised to a fruitful adulthood by Chuck and Jackie.
She was an avid skier and member of the Prospectors’ Ski Club based in North Conway, NH. Jacquelyn is survived by her loving husband Chuck, her son and his wife: Jeffrey and Hilary Gately, of Duxbury. She also is survived by her grandchild Conor and a great many other family members that she adored.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to either Special Olympics or Cape-Abilities.
A viewing will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday Jan. 24th at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Dennis. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM. Saturday at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster followed by a collation.

My deepest sympathy to Chuck, Jeff and all of Jackie’s family.
I graduated from WHS ‘62 with Jackie and considered her a friend. She
was our Class Treasurer, head of the Pep Squad, active on the yearbook staff, Talent Show and so much more. Her warm smile was always present and welcoming. When we had our first class reunion, Jackie was there to help and that continued for many more reunions. I was fortunate to experience the wonderful love and dedication she had for Chuck and her children and so many others. I will treasure all the beautiful memories I have of Jackie. She will be dearly missed not only by her family but by so many others.
Rest In Peace my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. Thinking back to our City Hall days when I would get calls regarding Christopher. The time has gone by swiftly. Sending prayers for you and your loved ones.
