Janet Irene Fiske

February 7, 1941October 31, 2020

Janet Irene (Files) Fiske, 79, of East Dennis MA, beloved wife of Robert (Bob) W. Fiske, died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on October 31, 2020. Janet was born in Weymouth, MA. She was married to her high school sweetheart for 60 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Mary Beth and her husband Greg Dyer, Bob J. and his late wife Jennifer, and Shawn and his wife Sheila. Janet was thrilled to have seven grandchildren: Cassandra, Kelsey, Charlie, Paige, Amelia, Nicole, and Lian. She also leaves her loving sisters; the late Helen (Rita) Manning, Dorothy Matthew, Lorraine Sears, Sheila Gallagher and Donna Doherty.

Janet had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. Her giggle was heard often. Janet loved to play games. She was known for the twinkle in her eye and the laugh (or smirk) on her lips. She was uniquely independent and confident. She also liked the fact that her initials were JIF.

Janet had many fond memories of summers in New Hampshire and on Cape Cod. After retiring on the Cape, Janet was formerly President of the Dennis Women’s Golf League and a member of the Dennis Golf Advisory Committee. She enjoyed playing golf and never hit a tee shot before she was ready!

Janet made the best chocolate chip cookies, fudge, and gingerbread cookies and hosted big Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings for years. She was also supportive, kind, and thoughtful.

Janet attended Dean Junior College and Stonehill College part time while raising her children. She also worked as an administrative assistant for companies in Boston and Taunton MA.

Due to COVID19, viewing is limited to immediate family only on Wednesday, November 4, at Doane, Beale and Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis MA 02660. A celebration of life will be planned at a future time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA of Cape Cod Hospice.

Janet was my first cousin and her laughter was truly genuine. We spent time at Roberts Cove in NH. with the family each summer. We were all lucky to have known her and she and Bob were so fortunate to have each other. Bob was such a sincere and loving husband and care giver. RIP cousin.

I was so sorry to hear of Janet’s passing. My thoughts are with Uncle Bob, her children and grandchildren. My fondest memories of Janet are at Pierce Road on Sundays after Mass and with Dad giving up his chair for her when she was pregnant with MaryBeth. I also loved my afternoons with her in the little house on Washington Street. Always thought of her more like a big sister, than an aunt. May she Rest In Peace.

Although I was several years older than most of my cousins next door, growing up with Janet was a joy . Her smile and her laugh were contagious and it was impossible to be sad or upset when she was around.

Janet will be dearly missed and my love and prayers go out to Bob and all her family and friends.

A precious Spirit has graduated from her earthly life to rejoin all those she loved that have gone before her. I imagine the rejoicing, however, those she leaves behind will be grieving.

She was a gift to all that shared her life. Her life had great meaning, especially to her loving Bob, children, grandchildren. Her family was most important to her.

I hold a lifetime of wonderful memories with her. We started our friendship before we started school and the journey has been pure joy for me. Our friendship was enhanced when we married and Bob and Dana were the best of friends.

The world is a better place for Janet's life. Her sense of humor, laughter and loyal friendship has enhanced all of us that loved her.

Thank you my childhood and forever friend,
