Joan Anne Pulsifer left us unexpected February 9´th in Brewster, Massachusetts. Joan Anne´s warm, strong and unique heart suddenly stopped, but that does not mean that her warmth, strength and uniqueness is gone. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 27th in 1946 to Josephine A. Budano & Bernard R. Pulsifer. Joan Anne or Star, like many called her, was the warmest person, full of humor and love. She had many accomplishments, which she rarely talked about due to her outstanding humility. She was spunky and could light up a room. and was adored by the patients at the nursing home, where she worked for many years as an aid. She made grey days sunny for those in need of love and care. Star was a curious soul and loved traveling and meeting new people. She would always start a conversation with the people around her, if they wanted or not and traveled many places with her life partner Dorothy, both inside the USA and in Europe. What made her so special was her ability to be who she was, nobody else. She was real and stood up for people around her. Not least for Dorothy or Pap, as she is also called. It is with great sorrow for the whole family that Joan Anne does not exist among us anymore. But one thing that is certain is that her spirit lives on. We will carry with us her warmth, humor and love. For many, being human often implies to some extent to be selfish.
We may tend to think about ourselves first. But for Star, giving was more important and she gave and gave, until the end. We are forever grateful. As Star would always say to Steven when he was leaving Cape Cod back to Singapore to comfort him: ‘Mom is in good hands with “All-Star” As I, her brother, left back to Logan airport to fly back to my wife and children, I happened to turn on the Elvis satellite radio and 3 seldom heard Elvis songs came on. These three songs were more specifically: “I´ll remember you”, “Memories” and “Forget me never”. Joan Anne was the first female Elvis impersonator and a huge fan of Elvis the King. As I drove and listened to these songs I could feel her soul. We will always remember you Joan Anne, we will cherish the memories shared and we will never forget you. Joan Anne, our queen or king if you wish. You will be missed. The definition of the word star is: “a fixed luminous point in the night sky which is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun” You will be our fixed luminous point in the night sky to guide us through life. “Until we meet again, may God bless you as He has blessed us” In loving Memory, Dorothy, Bernard/Chick, Wayne, Bobby, Tia, Billy, Kathy, Johann, Melvin, Richie, Steven, Gosia, Nina, Sara, Stephanie, Julia, Natalia, Helen, Brenda, Candy, Joanie and too many more relatives and friends which also included the community of Brewster: Fire Dept, Police Dept & so many more! Star will now rest peacefully with her mother Josephine at Hope Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
A memorial visitation will be held from 12 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, March 3rd at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt 134, S. Dennis, MA 02660.
