

He was born to the late Edward and Emilie (Wanat) Kochanowski, April 22, 1948 in Hartford, CT. John graduated Maloney High School in 1966, received a BA in Chemistry from Franklin and Marshall College in 1970 and a MS in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1973. John worked most of his career in the areas of chemical research, marketing, and sales in the Plastics Division of the General Electric Company. During his career, he was awarded numerous patents in polymer technology.
His passions included travel, having visited 33 countries, photography (some award winning), cooking, volunteering, and enjoying life with family and friends. He also served on the board of his Fort Lauderdale condo for 7 years. He had an insatiable zest for life and sharing his experiences with others.
John partnered with John Squarok in 1979 and they relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL and summered in Dennis Port, MA. John and John married in 2007. He is also survived by four siblings: Joan Mastromonaco (Mike) of Glastonbury, CT.; Richard Kochanowski (Diane) of Lancaster, MA; Janice Kochanowski (Bob) of Bradford, CT; Karen Hormuth (Roy) of McClean, VA. He is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews and 8 grand nieces and nephews. He was very involved with and loved by his nieces, nephews, and their children.
The family requests that donations be made to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Burial will be private in Great Barrington, MA.
