

Brian was the son of the late Mary E. (O'Brien) and John D. O'Connor. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Lynch) O'Connor and the devoted father of Maeve A. O'Connor; Joanne M. O'Connor and her husband, Neill Borland; and Karen L. O'Connor and her husband, Thomas Cadwalader. He was the proud and loving "Gramps" to Will Brodner, Caroline Cadwalader, Catherine Cadwalader, and Emily Borland. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Roger, and his sister, Carol (O'Connor) McGloin. He is survived by his sister, Ellen M. (O'Connor) White, and many nieces and nephews.
Brian was born and raised in Newton and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1958. He attended Newton Junior College and later graduated from Boston College with a degree in finance. He began his career at Newton Waltham Bank, where he served as a Vice President in retail banking for thirty years in the Newton, Waltham, and Auburndale areas. He later worked for Pioneer Financial Bank in Chestnut Hill.
Brian and Margaret raised their family in Natick, where they lived for forty-two years. They spent summers at their cottage in South Dennis and made many wonderful friends and memories there.
After retiring from banking, Brian drove for BostonCoach for ten years. He and Margaret then sold their Natick home, bought a condo in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and divided their time between Florida and the Cape.
Brian loved the outdoors and his five golden retrievers, which he trained at the Yankee Golden Retriever Club. He was a lover of Maine. As Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 1775 in Natick, he led many memorable fifty-mile canoe trips from Rangeley to South Arm Campground, and he spent many summers there with his family. He loved to fish, especially in the Margaree Valley of Cape Breton, where Margaret's mother was raised.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Newton, served as its president in 1989, and took part in several Bandey-Hefler exchanges. He also served as treasurer of the Bay Path Girl Scouts in Wayland.
Interment of his ashes will take place at Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath St, Brookline (Chestnut Hill), MA 02467 on Saturday, October 3rd at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend please meet at the main entrance at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission MSA at donate.missionmsa.org, or to a charity of your choice.
