John Paul Piccirilli

John Paul Piccirilli, 92, of Dennis, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Born on April 20, 1934, in Boston, MA, and raised in Hyde Park, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Assunta (Fransoso) Piccirilli.

John was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Following his discharge, he returned to Bridgewater State University, where he received his BS in Education. He later earned a MEd from Boston University and an MST from the University of New Hampshire.

A devoted educator throughout his life, John served as an educator and then principal of Norwood High School for over 30 years, guiding generations with steady leadership and a deep respect for learning. After moving to Dennis from Walpole in 1996, he continued to share his knowledge as a Professor of Mathematics at Cape Cod Community College for 13 years. He was also very involved in civic organizations.

John had a passion for gardening and fishing. His garden was famously abundant, producing an endless harvest of fresh cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes. He took great pride in sharing its bounty with family, friends and neighbors, ensuring that everyone enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Whether tending his garden or spending a peaceful day fishing, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in sharing them with those he loved.

John was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Mary Elizabeth (Barnes) Piccirilli. He is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (husband Grant McQuillan) of North Dighton, MA, his son, Robert (wife Laura) Piccirilli of Halifax, MA, and his adored grandchildren Reed, Wesley, Adeline, Ava, Austin, Shawn, Mark, and Matthew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by his brother Joe (wife Eva) Piccirilli, Anna (husband Tony) DeFino, and sister Hilda (husband John) D’Attilio.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Rd, Brewster, MA 02631. A private family burial with US Army Honors will take place at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
