her daughter, Sarah M. Donovan (Sheilah James), of Brooklyn, NY; son, Peter D. Donovan;
granddaughter Emily L. Donovan of Stamford, CT; and grandson Samuel E. Donovan of New York, NY.
She is also survived by her brothers Charles A. Ellis, MD (Mary) of Winchester, MA, and Stephen D. Ellis
(Patricia) of Sudbury, MA; brothers-in-law Dr. Alan B. Donovan (Annie) of Oneonta, NY, and David P.
Donovan (Mary Treiber) of Stayton, OR; her son Charles' widow, Anna Ilariucci, of Scituate, MA; and
many nieces and nephews. Kate was predeceased by her husband, Kreag Donovan; her son Charles E.
Donovan; her parents, Charles Archibald and Mary Brooks (Whalen) Ellis; and her brother Michael B.
Ellis.
Kate was born in Natick, MA, on October 19, 1938. She attended Hamden High School in Hamden, CT,
and graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College) in 1960. After Kate and
Kreag married, she moved to Rochester, NY. Kate worked for several architectural firms in Rochester and
was admitted as a member of The American Institute of Architects in 1995. She established an
independent practice, Archade Architectural Services. Her favorite projects were home restorations and
renovations.
Kate and Kreag were members of the Country Club of Rochester and, more recently, the Genesee Valley
Club in Rochester. After Kreag passed away, Kate moved to West Dennis, MA. She enjoyed pickleball
and quilting, took up sailing again, and became a member of the West Dennis Yacht Club. Kate leaves
behind many new and longtime friends.
