Kathleen A. McKenney

Kathleen A. (Doherty) McKenney, 81, of South Dennis, Ma, passed away quietly at home on August 6, 2025 following a short and very brave battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Born in Boston and raised in Roslindale, Ma, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Devlin) Doherty. Kathleen was one of six children. She was a graduate of Forsyth Dental School and Northeastern University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business.

She worked as a dental hygienist in Burlington, Ma, and later as a relocation coordinator for Mitre Corporation in Bedford, Ma.

She was married to William "Bill" McKenney for 58 years. Together, they lived in Burlington, where they raised their two adored daughters Laura and Marin. Kathy and Bill moved to Cape Cod, South Dennis, 24 years ago.

Kathy loved a great book at the beach. An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of a good book. Her grandchildren were the love of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Kathy is predeceased by her cherished daughter Marin L. (McKenney) Carey (2019) and her brothers Michael, Peter and Brian. In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by her daughter Laura Barry of Plymouth and her former husband Robert, son-in-law Daniel Carey of Burlington, Ma, grandchildren Robert Barry, Christopher Barry, Emma Carey and Dillon Carey, brother John Doherty of West Roxbury, Ma and sister Maureen Kelley of Burlington, Ma. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 9-10:30 at Doane, Beal & Ames, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, Ma followed by a Funeral Mass being celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Rd, Brewster, Ma on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 am.
