

Born in New York, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Kathryn (Howett) Olivere, Marc was raised in Wilmington, Delaware and was a 1972 graduate of Sanford High School. He went on to study at the University of Delaware earning his BA degree in Theater Studies in 1976. Marc’s career in the theater industry spanned over 50 years starting as a teenager at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis. At the Playhouse he was trained as old school” theatre technician. After graduating from college, he worked in various theater venues and was a member of I.A.T.S.E. – Local 232 (The Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). He went on to spend over 30 years as the Technical Director of the Boston Playwright’s Theatre (BPT). Marc will be remembered by his colleagues for his willingness to do anything to make the BPT stronger and his impeccable work ethic. He built the sets, scheduled 50 theatre companies for the Boston Theatre Marathon, and oversaw the planning and execution of their daily theatre lives. Marc was also an award-winning fiction writer, was an active member of two writing critique groups, “Scribers” and “The Room to Write” and truly enjoyed all kinds of home projects. Marc also travelled extensively with his beloved Maureen.
In addition to his wife, Marc is survived by sisters Laura Sopp (Jerry) and Gina Burcham (Gary), nieces Lindsay, Julianne and nephew Zachary.
Memorial services to celebrate Marc’s life will be announced in the fall.
