OBITUARY

Marjorie Theresa Lynch

September 4, 1930March 25, 2020

Marjorie Theresa (Monahan) Lynch, of South Dennis and formerly of Middleborough, passed peacefully into eternal life on March 25, 2020. She was born on September 4, 1930, to her parents, Edward Cecil and Theresa Katherine (Dooley) Monahan. “Marge” was the loving and devoted wife of Dr. Lincoln D. Lynch for fifty five years prior to his passing in 2008. She grew up in West Roxbury and Dorchester as the second of six children and her siblings include her sister Janice Concannon of Harwich, MA, her brother Robert “Bobby” and wife Vicki Monahan of Nashua, NH as well as her sister-in-law Gilda Monahan of Cherry Hill, NJ. She was predeceased by her immediate family members, Edward C. Monahan, Jr., John “Jack” and Marie Monahan, Richard “Dick” and Margaret “Peggy” Monahan, John “Jack” Concannon and Joan Monahan.

Marge was a proud graduate of both St. Patrick’s High School (1947) and then Emmanuel College (1951) where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. While attending both schools, she made many lifelong friends with whom she kept in touch through visits, class reunions, letters, and phone calls. While commuting to Emmanuel on the train, she met her husband Lincoln who was attending Boston University at the time. It wasn’t long before they fell in love, became engaged, and were married on August 2, 1952.

In their early years, the couple began their family in Cumberland, MD as Linc had been stationed there as a member the Intelligence Corps of the United States Army. It also became the community where she began her teaching career. Following his enlistment, they headed back north to raise their family in the Boston area then to Lanesborough, and Middleborough. Ultimately, they lived their later years in South Dennis, MA where they enjoyed the leisure of the Cape Cod life.

When asked about her greatest accomplishment in life, she would proudly state that it was “being a wife and proud mother of my seven children”. Her children, who are all committed to carrying on the legacy of devotion and love which she created in her family, include: Maureen and her husband David Hayden of Ashville, NC, Kathleen and her husband Dr. George Rodrigues Jr. of Dartmouth, MA, Eileen Lynch of Vacaville, CA and Plymouth, MA, Christine Reilly and her husband Michael of Pembroke, MA and Ocala FL, Dr. Lincoln D. Lynch III and his wife Susan of Norton, MA, Brian E. Lynch and his wife Kathleen of Middleborough, MA and Thomas “Tommy” Lynch and his fiancé Karen of Middleborough, MA.

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren including Karen Goldman, Kimberly Johnston, and Chris Hayden, Dr. Shannon Rodrigues Espinola, Brittany Rodrigues Milnes, Kayla Rodrigues, Anthony Gallerani, Matthew Gallerani, Michael Reilly, Dr. Tara Reilly Patel, Dr. Patrick Reilly, Brian Reilly, Lincoln D. Lynch IV, Daniel Lynch, Brendan Lynch, Bridget Lynch Griffin, Margaret Lynch, Caroline Lynch, Grace Lynch, Thomas J. Lynch, Jr. and Kevin Lynch. Loving great-grandchildren include Hadley and Morgan Espinola, Samuel and Annie Milnes, and Camila and Adam Reilly, Callie Mae and Taylor Lynch, and Aria Reilly Patel.

Due to the current circumstances regarding public gatherings of any kind as well as the current edict prohibiting the traditional Catholic Funeral Mass, internment will be private at this time. Please note that there will be a “Celebration of Life” held in her honor which will be announced at a later date.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any potential donations may be made to the Marjorie T. and Lincoln D. Scholarship Fund, or simply “Lynch Scholarship”, c/o Thomas J. Lynch, 12 Colby Drive, Middleborough, MA 02346.
