Marjorie Elinor Murphy
September 26, 1942 – August 26, 2021
Marjorie E. (Crowell) Murphy, 78, of South Dennis passed away on August 26, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on September 26, 1942 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She was the devoted daughter of Albert H. Crowell and Lilian E. (Megathin) Crowell. She was also the beloved sister to Charles A. Crowell, sister in-law Ellen, and Carolyn (Crowell) Culhane, brother in-law Edward.
Marjorie married her husband Ronald Murphy on August 16, 1968 and they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. She is survived by her loving children which include her daughter Paige (Murphy) Brown, son-in-law Edward, son Todd Murphy, step-son Christopher Roberts and step daughter-in-law Natalie.
Marge is the cherished Nana to Cody, Conner, Christopher, Brittany, Rachael, Natalie, Sawyer, Hunter, Ali, Frankie, and Shark. Most recently Marge was blessed with her first great grandchild, Blakely Mae. She adored her grandchildren and each of them held a special place in her heart.
A life-long resident of Dennis and a true “Cape Codder” (13th generation), Marge was a loving daughter, wife, sister and mother. She spent her early years participating in many athletic activities, especially basketball during high school. She enjoyed helping her parents with the family business and later graduated from cosmetology school becoming a hairstylist. Lastly she was employed with International Fund For Animal Welfare for many years and retired in 2006.
She loved spending time traveling with her family enjoying ski trips, cruising the Caribbean, and visiting Hawaii to see her grandchildren grow. Her greatest love was to be actively involved with her grandchildren, attending their countless school events and sporting activities. They could not have had a bigger fan!
Marge loved to host family celebrations and have wonderful holiday parties with many close friends. She loved playing card games, shopping with her friends and chatting on the phone with all of her loved-ones. She generously offered a shoulder to cry on and a safe place to land. She will be dearly remembered! A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated in Majorie’s name to the VNA of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601 with special appreciation to Lisa Burns.

Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt Marge. She was always so much fun to work with! We really had some good laughs in the old office at 411 Main Street, and missed her so much when she retired. I'm sure you have lots of wonderful memories of her. Jerry and I are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Marge at ifaw and she was always lovely and had a smile for everyone and most often a wisecrack! She was part of our ifaw family and we missed her when she retired and will miss her even more now. Please know our hearts go out to you all and we are wishing you peace of heart at this sad time.

Best Nana in the world, she was always so happy to see us walk in the door and always had the best summer plans such as beach trips (6am wake up to get a good spot on the beach), shopping sprees for school, mini golf trips with all my siblings and always came swimming in the pool. She always made sure we were happy and made sure the best snacks were stocked in the fridge and popsicles were ready to go. She always cut my hair how ever I wanted (even if my dad said 1 inch only, I got 3 off haha she cut 1 inch at a time so my dad wouldn’t notice it was 3 inches on the floor). When ever I stayed over she would always lay with me if I was scared in the room alone and waited until I’d fall asleep. I’m going to miss her called at 9 in the morning just to say hi and check in with school and track. I loved how she always signed her texts and birthday cards with “hugs”. She was always so thoughtful and so loving with everyone. I already miss her so much.

I was so sorry to hear that Marjorie had passed away. I remember attending many family Christmas parties in Riverside, RI and she and Todd were there. She was always so sweet and lovely to everyone. Unfortunately many years have passed since we'd seen each other and to know that she's gone, makes me sad. My condolences to the Murphy's and my other extended family on the Cape.
I am one of Roberta Miller's twins.

Marjorie's winning smile has not left my mind all day. We opened D-Y and I always looked on Marge in the class of '60 as a good friend. West Dennis was an important part of our world. She had an embracing quality for people and life. I had hoped to better reconnect. My sympathy to her family.
