Martha Jane Williams

August 25, 1950 – May 20, 2025
Obituary of Martha Jane Williams
IN THE CARE OF

Doane Beal & Ames

Martha Jane Williams, born on August 25, 1950, passed away at Cape Cod Hospital on May 20, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the devoted wife of P. David Williams of South Dennis for 38 years. Martha was the devoted stepmother to Jennie Williams and her husband Scott Romer, both of Dennisport and beloved sister-in-law of Mary Sadler of Trabuco Canyon, CA. Martha was the cherished daughter of Albert and Betty Sadler and sister to Roger Sadler, who all predeceased her. She will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and friends.

Martha was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. She was born in Framingham, MA and spent her childhood in Boxboro and Seekonk before moving to Cape Cod in 1970. Martha loved living on Cape Cod, having vacationed here as a child, and she lived in North Truro and Harwich before moving to South Dennis in 2002. She was a graduate of Bristol Community College, UMass Dartmouth and Brown University. After earning her Master’s Degree in History from Brown, Martha dedicated her life to education as a Professor of History at Bristol Community College, where she taught from 1987 until she retired in 2020.

Beyond her academic accomplishments, Martha was known for her green thumb as a gardener and her culinary skills that brought family and friends together around the table. She loved cats and adopted many in her lifetime although she would have told you that they actually adopted her! Martha also loved all types of music, especially classical and classic rock. She attended many concerts from the time she was a teenager right up through last summer. Martha had a keen eye for antiques and loved collecting and selling antiques on the cape. She was also passionate about social justice, universal access to healthcare and equality for all. She volunteered to support political candidates and always voted in every election.

Martha's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her warmth, generosity, and spirit. A celebration of her life will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat For Humanity of Cape Cod (habitatcapecod.org) in her honor.
